The tree is the centre of the temporary art installation – a stand-in for the forest and at the same time an ambassador for nature and its preservation. As was the case in Klagenfurt in 2019 with For Forest – The unending Attraction of Nature, Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea is responsible for selecting and cultivation of the ironwood tree. The arena’s surrounding grandstand is modelled on the annual rings that archive the gradual unfolding of each tree inside the trunk.
